Mental Illness

Are you or a loved one suffering from mental illness? Statistics show that 1 in 4 Americans have a diagnosable mental illness. I'd like to offer you a word of encouragement from my experience with four generations of my family who've suffered from mental illness. The most severe was my sister Michelle, diagnosed with schizophrenia and major depression. She died at the age of 42 from suicide in 2005, after battling mental illness for twenty years. The links below are articles and blog posts I've written about her, as well as a link to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). They provide national and local resources for those suffering, as well as support for family members. Most of all, know you're in my prayers as you journey along this difficult path. Please feel free to e-mail me specific prayer requests.

God bless,
Laura
